[WATCH]- Pat Cummins Dismisses Temba Bavuma With A Stunning Delivery
Temba Bavuma

Australian skipper Pat Cummins removed his South African counterpart Temba Bavuma for 66 on Day 4 of the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final at Lord’s, Saturday, June 14. Bavuma was undone by a short-of-length delivery that struck high on the bat, with Alex Carey completing a catch behind the stumps.

The breakthrough came at a crucial moment, leaving South Africa at 217/3—still needing 65 runs for victory. The dismissal was a much-needed boost for Australia as they looked to turn the match in their favour. It was Pat Cummins’ first wicket of the second innings and his seventh in the match overall. The wicket brought an end to a brilliant 147-run partnership for the third wicket between Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram. Their stand has put South Africa firmly in control as they edge closer to securing their first global title in 27 years. Battling a hamstring injury, Bavuma showed remarkable determination, spending much of Day 3 at the crease to help build the crucial partnership with Markram.

Markram’s Steady Knock Powers South Africa Towards Victory At Lord’s

With Temba Bavuma back in the pavilion, the responsibility shifted to Aiden Markram to guide South Africa to victory in the WTC 2025 final. The 30-year-old was in sublime touch on Day Three, registering a century and putting the Proteas firmly in control.

Markram played a key role in two vital partnerships during the day—adding 61 runs for the second wicket with Wiaan Mulder, followed by a commanding 147-run stand with Bavuma for the third, which pushed Australia onto the defensive.

A win in this final would mark South Africa’s first global title since clinching the Knockout Trophy in Dhaka back in 1998. At the time of writing, the Proteas stood at 225/3 after 62 overs, with Markram and Tristan Stubbs unbeaten at the crease.
