Delhi Capitals star batsman Jason Roy has pulled himself out of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Previously, he was ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan starting tomorrow.

Incidentally, Roy sustained an injury earlier this week during training leading to the series. He underwent a scan on Wednesday and will now miss the entire series. However, the injury looks grimmer than before and now has pulled out of IPL.

Meanwhile, it will be a massive blow to Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi side. Roy was a key part to their plan as they chase their maiden IPL trophy in the UAE. The destructive opener had a decent run in 2019 in the shorter formats and Delhi were banking on his good form.

Meanwhile, Daniel Sams will replace Jason Roy in Delhi Capitals as per reports in Cricbuzz. The left-arm pacer is part of the Australian squad which is currently in England. He will join the IPL franchise after the series along with the other England and Australian cricketers.

The tall and lanky fast bowler boasts a decent record in the T20Is. He has scalped 52 wickets from 37 games with the best figures of four for 14. Although his economy is on the higher side, Sams had a good run during the last Big Bash League which also earned him an international cap. The 27-year-old will hope to have a good run with the Capitals and stamp his authority in the most prominent T20 league across the world.

The 13th edition of the cash-rich league will start from September 19 and will run until November 10. This will be the first time in the history that the grand finale will take place on a weekday. The cricketers will remain in a bio-secure bubble throughout the tournament keeping the COVID-19 in mind.
