India all-rounder Shardul Thakur playfully pointed out that Rohit Sharma was using his bat during the third ODI against England at Lord’s. Although India suffered a 27-run defeat and lost the series 2-1, Rohit’s brilliant century was one of the major highlights of the match.

Chasing 388, Rohit kept India in contention with a superb knock. During the broadcast, Thakur amusingly revealed that the opener was batting with his willow, with his name clearly visible on the bottom of the bat.

“Yeh mera hi balla hai. Comm box mai baithe baithe maine yaha pe Bharat ko shuruat toh de di hai, Rohit ke rup mai (This is my bat. Sitting in the commentary box, I have given India a start in the form of Rohit),” he said on Sony Sports Network.

Heading into the third ODI at Lord’s, Rohit Sharma was under considerable pressure after failing to make an impact in the first two matches. Following the second ODI, reports claimed that the selectors had decided to move on from the veteran opener, sparking speculation that the Lord’s game could be his last for India.

However, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia dismissed those reports, stating that there had been no discussions about Rohit’s retirement and calling the speculation baseless. Even so, questions remained over the veteran’s form and place in the side, with many expecting a strong response from the opener.

Rohit answered those doubts in emphatic fashion, producing a magnificent century at Lord’s and letting his bat do the talking.
