Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen who will soon be joining the team of commentators for IPL 2020 said that he loves the IPL and is looking forward to another exciting season ahead. While promoting his venture ‘Save This Rhino’, KP spoke about his love for India and the Indian Premier League.

Meanwhile, Pietersen has been an integral part of IPL during his playing days. During his playing days, Pietersen represented the Delhi Daredevils team (now rechristened Delhi Capitals) in the IPL, besides Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiant.

“I love IPL and love what India has given to me. I love everything about the journey that I have had since 2002 — the first time I came to India. So lucky that I got to experience Indian culture, friendships. I have been benefited financially, I have been benefited emotionally in India and owe a lot to India,” he said.

Pietersen backs Delhi to win

Speaking more on season 13 of the Indian Premier League, Kevin Pietersen backed his former IPL franchise Delhi Capitals to win the title this year. In the process, he also spoke about his love and admiration for Delhi as a city.

“I can’t predict anything as of now, but my heart really wants Delhi Capitals to win because I love the team. However, I can’t predict right now. It’s totally a new and different season for everybody. So, I have to closely observe the teams for the first two weeks, and only then will I be able to put my professional brain on” said Kevin Pietersen.

He also said that since Delhi has a young side and he like young cricketers, he has been a Delhi fan ever since in the IPL.

I love young players. I love exciting players and love players who take risks,” added Pietersen.

He also kept his view on this IPL season and that it would be played on empty stadiums.

“It’s going to be different for sure. No fans, nothing. Everybody is in bubble and the team that copes with its bubble life the best is the team that’s going to win. This is new territory for everyone,” Pietersen told IANS.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians face off against Chennai Super Kings on September 19 to kick off the IPL 2020 in the UAE.
