Delhi Capitals won their second game on the bounce in IPL 2020 by beating Chennai Super Kings by 44 runs in Dubai. By doing so DC have moved up to the top of the points table after the first seven matches in IPL 2020.
The Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings encounter turned out to be a one-sided contest at the end, with CSK losing the steam in their chase. On the other hand, disciplined performance from Delhi in the field, helped them notch up a big win vs Chennai.
Chasing a big score of 176 to win the Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings contest, CSK lost Shane Watson early for 14. Murali Vijay disappointed once again scoring 10 off 15 balls as CSK just scored 34 runs in the powerplay.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has given his second chance was run-out for just 5. Faf Du Plessis (43) and Kedar Jadhav (26) added 54 for the fourth wicket before Jadhav was dismissed in the 16th over.
MS Dhoni Bats at Number 6
With CSK still needing 78 from their final five overs, MS Dhoni walked out to bat. However, he did not look in good touch as he struggled to get his timing going. He scored just 15 off 12 balls, as Chennai looked lost in the contest. CSK finally reached 131 for 7 after the end of their 20 overs, giving Delhi Capitals their second successive win of the season.

Earlier in the Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals contest, CSK won the toss and elected to bowl. Prithvi Shaw (64) and Shikhar Dhawan (35) added 94 for the first wicket giving Delhi a rollicking start. Shreyas Iyer (26) and Rishabh Pant (37) added a 61-run stand in the death overs to help Delhi post a competitive total.
The CSK spinners were guilty of bowling too fast on the track. With the dew playing its part, the ball was coming onto the bat making strokeplay easy. Ravindra Jadeja, went for 11 per over, while Piyush Chawla went for almost 10. Josh Hazlewood who made his debut with CSK today, bowled a wicketless spell.
Six Games Out of Seven Won by Team Batting First
With all the talk about dew becoming a crucial factor in the game and captains opting to chase to negate its impact, six matches out of the first seven have been won by the team batting first.
Delhi capitals face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next game in Abu Dhabi on September 29, while CSK have a week-long break before they play SRH in Dubai on October 2.
