The focus shifts to India’s tour of Australia as soon as the Indian Premier League ends. Virat Kohli & Co will play three T20Is and ODIs each followed by four Test matches. And as per reports, domestic stalwart Suryakumar Yadav is likely to earn his maiden call-up for the limited-overs leg.
The top-order batsman from Mumbai has been in the scheme of things for quite some time now. Suryakumar has scored tons and tons of runs in domestic cricket and IPL; however, has didn’t manage to break through the doors of the Indian team.
Suryakumar Yadav likely to be part of India’s tour of Australia
Many former cricketers have backed Suryakumar Yadav to be in the Indian team but due to the omnipresence of the other consistent performers made the former wait. Finally, he is likely to earn a call up for the limited-overs series against Australia and the selectors look for finishers in the absence of MS Dhoni.

As per a report in The Times of India, Suryakumar is likely to get his maiden India call-up. He will be a valuable addition in the middle-order alongside the likes of Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, and Hardik Pandya. Meanwhile, it was back in 2012 that Suryakumar first came close to national selection.
He missed out back then and also lost his spot in India A on number of occasions. He was recalled to the India A team for New Zealand tour earlier this year. As the selectors look to pick a jumbo squad for the Australia tour, Suryakumar Yadav might break the doors.
Currently, he is in the UAE feature for defending champions Mumbai Indians in IPL 2020. Although he has had an average tournament so far, Mumbai has fared extremely well. So far, he has managed 243 runs from 10 games with the highest score of an unbeaten 79 at a strike rate of touch under 150.
