Chennai Super Kings poor run in the IPL 2020 continues as they endured their eight loss of the season. MS Dhoni & Co only managed to post 114 runs from 43 for seven which was chased down by Mumbai Indians convincingly at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

It was a cakewalk for Mumbai Indians as they chased down the total with 46 balls to spare. Ishan Kishan opened the innings in place of Rohit Sharma, who was out due to injury, along with Quinton de Kock. They remained unbeaten to sail passed the target as MS Dhoni looked out of options.

Chennai’s losing streak continues

Ishan remained on 68 runs while de Kock chipped in with 46 runs to go past the target. As a result, Mumbai Indians will go on top of the points table and one step closer to the playoff spot.

Chennai Super Kings youngsters were tried out today, and they’ve done rather well to vindicate MS Dhoni’s comments. Ruturaj Gaikwad was at sea and N Jagadeesan falling first ball against the quality of Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah respectively.

Faf du Plessis or Ambati Rayudu or Dhoni or Ravindra Jadeja could do much better either. So on a pretty slow wicket, when seen in context of having been 43/7, 114/9 seems quite good. Sam Curran scored almost half of the scores to put his side out of humiliation.

We need to have a clear picture next year – MS Dhoni

Speaking at the end of the game, MS Dhoni admitted that nothing has gone their way in this edition of IPL. However, the CSK skipper is hopeful that they will be able to put a stand in the last three games.

“Well, it does hurt. What you need to see is what is going wrong, this year hasn’t been our year. In only one or two games this year we have batted and bowled well together. Whether you lose by ten wickets or eight wickets it hardly matters. All the players are hurting, but they are trying their best. It doesn’t always go your way. Hopefully, in the next three games we’ll try to put our last stand,” MS Dhoni said.

Furthermore, MS Dhoni stated that they will have to come up with a clear picture ahead of the next auction. The last three matches will be the preparation ground for all the youngsters for the next season.

“We need to have a clear picture for the next year. The kind of auction, where the venues will be, and you want to give the boys a chance to perform and show their talent. We have to make the most of the next three games and it is good preparation for the next year. Identify the batsmen, who will bowl at the death and hopefully the players will soak up the pressure. Captain can’t run away, so I’ll be playing in all the games,” MS Dhoni added.
