When we talk about the Indian Premier League, the mention of Chris Gayle is always there since he’s caused that sort of impact over the years. As Chris Gayle is always remembered for the 175 not out knock against Pune Warriors India which is still the highest individual score in the history of the cash-rich league.

Though things have been different for the universe boss this year as he wasn’t Kings XI Punjab’s first choice of opener as the Kings went in with KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal as their openers. The two Karnataka batsmen flourished as openers for Kings XI Punjab which made it even more difficult for Chris Gayle to pitch in.

But then came a time as Punjab made the decision to utilise Chris Gayle in the middle order which has actually worked for the side on a positive note.

Moreover, Chris Gayle also hit the all-important six in the double super match against Mumbai Indians at Dubai International Cricket stadium ensuring Kings XI Punjab of that victory. Sourav Ganguly has also recently praised Gayle saying that the thought of sitting out of the side for Chris Gayle pinched him so hard that we’re now seeing him perform exceptionally well in the matches he has been playing.

“We all think Chris Gayle keeps laughing and roaming but it pinched him that he has been made to sit out. These are the things to see and learn from. IPL is just too much competition,” Sourav Gangulu said on Star Sports.

Looking at the Kings XI Punjab side’s performance this season, they had a very patchy start as they won just 1 out of the first 6 games but then made an unexpected comeback as they went on to win against Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in back to back matches.

With the form Kings XI Punjab are in, we might just expect them to throw their hat in for a place in the playoffs.
