Former legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara has hailed KL Rahul for his incredible consistency in IPL 2020. The Kings XI Punjab skipper has so far scored 540 runs at an average of 67.50 including 5 half-centuries and a record-breaking hundred. He has led from the front with the bat in virtually every KXIP match this season.

Lara who is closely watching IPL 2020, is all praises for the way Rahul has batted this season. The former great player reckons that KL Rahul is developing with each passing game and will also soon successfully finish matches for his side.

Brian Lara Praises KL Rahul

Even with KXIP losing matches this season, it hasn’t affected KL Rahul’s batting form as he has continued to score runs. Brian Lara added that Rahul for him is an ideal batsman that will play in all formats of the game.

“He’s my test batsman, he’s my 50-over batsman and he’s my T20 batsman”, Brian Lara said on Star Sports.

“As a captain, he has done very well. I love the way he bats, love the way he puts them together. Yes he struggled to finish off matches towards the beginning but now he’s looking to improve that too”, Lara added.

Meanwhile, KL is currently the leading run-getter in IPL 2020 and rightly boasts the orange cap. Overall as a team in the last 3 matches, KXIP has lifted their game and won each one of them. By doing so their hopes of playing in the playoffs this season is still alive.

Coming back to Rahul as a batsman, he has been the standout batsman in the league since 2018. In the last two years in IPL, he has amassed a total of 1,777 which is more than any other player.

Furthermore, Rahul will be keen to continue his purple patch in the next game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday.
