The BCCI announced India’s Test, ODI and T20I squads for their tour to Australia between November 2020-January 2021. The BCCI has given a much-deserved chance to a couple of the players after their good show in the ongoing season of the IPL.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant, who was reported to be‘overweight’ has been selected only in the Test squad. KL Rahul has been selected in all three squads and will keep for India in the limited-overs leg. The players will be leaving for Australia after the end of the IPL.

Meanwhile, a BCCI official has clarified as to how the young-wicket-keeper batsman can make a comeback into the Indian squad.

“In any case, all three teams will be there, Pant, if need be, can be added to the squad,” the BCCI official started saying to Outlook.

He further added that the Team India trainer had shared his opinion of Pant’s overweight issues. He further added that the BCCI and the selectors will take a fitness test and only after a fair assessment of his development will he be added into the squads.

“The Indian team fitness trainer had shared his perspective on Pant some days ago and we believe he’s overweight. Regardless of what’s obvious on the field, the BCCI and the selectors will have to take the fitness report on Pant into consideration before they can pick him. The selectors need to speak to trainer Nick Webb before taking the call,” the BCCI official confirmed.

Rishabh Pant has had an indifferent IPL this season so far. He has not scored even one fifty-plus score so far scoring just 217 runs in eight matches. He was out injured for three games and made a return back to the side. However, his lack of runs meant that it was not as impactful as expected of him.

He has had a poor run off-late at the international level as well. Earlier this year, he also lost his place in the ODI and T20Is teams after he suffered a concussion during an ODI against Australia.
