Delhi Capitals lost to Mumbai Indians in the first qualifier of IPL 2020 in Dubai. They will now play the second qualifier in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, November 8. They lost the game by 57 runs as they have registered an unwanted record in the IPL. Also, this was their fourth straight loss in the last five matches in this season. Mumbai scored 200 and left Delhi reeling at 0 for 3 with the bat in the chase.
DC lost three wickets without putting any runs on the board. This was a dubious record in itself. First Trent Boult dismissed Prithvi Shaw and Ajinkya Rahane for ducks in the first over. Jasprit Bumrah then castled Shikhar Dhawan for a duck in his first over as the DC scorecard read 0 for 3 at the start of their innings.

Delhi Capitals Register Unwanted Record
In the 13-year history of the IPL, no team had lost its first three wickets in a match without putting a single run on the board. Earlier, Chennai Super Kings and the now-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala jointly held the record for losing their first three wickets for just 1 run. Delhi Capitals became the first team to do so and this becomes a unique record in itself.
This was also the first instance since 2009 in the league that the top three batters of a team were all dismissed for ducks. Back then, CSK had dismissed the likes of Adam Gilchrist, Herschelle Gibbs and VVS Laxman on ducks. In this game, Shaw, Rahane and Dhawan were dismissed for ducks.
RCB -SRH Face off in Eliminator
Meanwhile, RCB and SRH will face off in the IPL 2020 Eliminator today in Abu Dhabi. The loser gets knocked out of the season, while the winner faces Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier on Sunday.
The RCB skipper said to Star Sports that this is a big week ahead of them and they are all geared up for the game.
“I would say, one thing what AB (AB de Villiers) said before heading into what will be a big week for us. We are thinking of playing a brand of cricket that people have loved over the years for RCB – and definitely, a time where we are not going to take any step backwards. It will be positive and upfront,” he concluded.
