Mohammed Azharuddeen from Kerala has become a sensation overnight after scoring a century against Mumbai in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He set social media on fire with his 37-ball century against Mumbai in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Kerala rode on to his brilliant match-winning knock to chase down 197 runs set by Suryakumar Yadav & Co batting first at the Wankhede Stadium.
At the halfway mark it looked like a mammoth task to chase down 197 runs but the 26-year-old wicket-keeper batsman had different things in his mind. He went all guns blazing from the first delivery and took on Tushar Deshpande from the second over shelling out 55 runs off his three overs.
He spoke to PTI after his recent success where he said that he is unfazed about getting a big-money contract from one of the franchises in the upcoming IPL season.

Not Worried About IPL Contract: Mohammed Azharuddeen
“I am in a good zone. I am not worried about the IPL auction or something. I am just concentrating on our fourth match against Andhra,” he said.
When asked about his goals, Azharuddeen mentioned playing in the IPL and scoring hundreds in Ranji Trophy. He further spoke about following the like of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli and that he is a big fan of both of them.
“Not for this year actually. There are some goals, play IPL, score a few hundreds in Ranji trophy. I (made my) debut in 2015, I didn’t get a chance to bat in top-order. Now I am clear about how to approach my batting, clear in my mind,” Azharuddeen, a big fan of India captain Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, said.
He further said that Dav Whatmore brought about an important change in his game by changing his batting order. A regular opener, Azharuddeen was dropped down to the middle-order by coach Whatmore.
“I am an opener. After Dav Whatmore came as coach he made me a middle-order player. I came down the order due to team requirements. It was not a good slot for me. I just requested the coach (Tinu Yohannan) to allow me to bat in the right slot, which is opening”.
