Meanwhile, former India batsman Sachin Tendulkar mourned the loss of Pollard’s father and shared his deepest condolences. “Just got to know about the demise of your father @KieronPollard55. My deepest condolences to you & all your family members in this hour of grief. May God give you the strength to overcome this loss,” Tendulkar tweeted.

Pollard was last seen in the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka. In one of the T20I games, he hit six sixes of Lankan spinner Akila Dananjaya who incidentally also took a hat-trick in the same match.

Mumbai retained 17 cricketers from their squad for IPL 2020 and made some crucial additions to their squad to strengthen the rope. They roped in senior fast bowler from Australia Nathan Coulter-Nile as an alternative for Lasith Malinga, who has been the highest wicket-taker of the franchise in the history of IPL. He was also Mumbai’s biggest buy at 5 crores.

Among all the 14 matches, two of MI’s matches are day games against Rajasthan Royals on April 29 and Punjab Kings on May 13. They are the defending champions of the IPL title having won it in the UAE last year.
