Amidst the rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the world, India A’s tour of England is put on hold. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) settled down on an agreement with each other to postpone India A’s tour of England, which was scheduled alongside the senior side’s tour in June this year.

India will travel to England in June to take part in the final of the inaugural World Test Championship. They will take on Kane Williamson’s New Zealand. After the final, the Men in Blue will play five Test matches against England beginning on August 4. Previously, it was reported that senior national team wanted to play practice matches against India A and not against county sides.

Tom Harrison, ECB Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are looking forward to staging a memorable summer of men’s and women’s international cricket when fans are set to return to venues. Ensuring the safest possible environment for international cricket is our priority and we are appreciative for the understanding of our fellow boards.”

“We look forward to welcoming a men’s India A tour at a later date after this summer and when restrictions have eased. It will provide a valuable opportunity for players from both countries to experience high-quality cricket and to showcase the talent within our England Lions team and first-class counties,” he added.

India to play intra-squad warm-up games ahead of World Test Championship final

These changes mean Virat Kohli & Co will take extra men to play intra-squad matches for warm-ups. Venues for these intra-squad squad matches are yet to be decided. The Tests will be played at Trent Bridge, Lord’s, Emerald Headingley, the Kia Oval, and Emirates Old Trafford.

England recently toured India, where the visitors could not win any series. They played four Tests, five T20Is, and three One Day Internationals. Now, some of the English cricketers are busy with their Indian Premier League commitments, and the others are playing county in England.
