Chris Gayle even after a decade of playing T20 cricket, remains the most feared batsmen in the format. He has scored over 1000 runs in the format and has over 10 centuries as well in the format overall. He is currently playing for Punjab Kings in IPL 2021 and is enjoying every bit of it. He has scored 119 from five games so far with a best of an unbeaten 43 against Mumbai Indians.
Talking To Hindustan Times, Chris Gayle opened up on the fear factor of the bowlers against him. He said that he still rules the format while the bowlers are still afraid to bowl against him. In his own admission, he said that bowlers are afraid almost since a week before bowling him.
Bowlers Are Intimidated From Me: Chris Gayle
“Bowlers are always intimidated, from the night or even the week before when they know they’ll be up against Chris Gayle! That’s the fear I strike into them. If a bowler comes and says that I’m lying it’s actually them who lie. Trust me! It happens over and over – sleepless nights, team meetings when they discuss just one person for two hours! That’s the impact I have on the game, so you do the math,” Chris Gayle told Hindustan Times.

Gayle also kept a word on the upcoming World T20 to be played in India. He is already a part of two T20 World Cup titles with the Windies (2012, 2016). He is aiming for his third. The West Indies, led by Kieron Pollard, had been bolstered by the return of both Gayle and Dwayne Bravo; Andre Russell and Sunil Narine are yet to make a comeback to the national side. With youngsters like Nicholas Pooran, Shimron Hetmyer, Fabian Allen to add spring to the side, West Indies will be looking for their third T20 title.
“We have the players to do that. It’s going to be in India as well. It’s something we’re all looking forward to and are very excited about. To make history again – it will be fantastic,” Gayle asserted.
