Jasprit Bumrah has swiftly become one of India’s most dependable bowlers. Even with a quirky action like no other, Bumrah has managed to stay away from injuries to be regarded as one of the best bowlers in all the formats. He’s one of the mainstays in India’s revolutionary pace attack that has garnered attention over the years.

In the WTC Final that is ongoing, Bumrah will be the key figure if India is to beat New Zealand in an ICC tournament for the first time in 18 years. His rise to the top is aided by some controlled aggression. In a video posted by ICC, the fast bowler opens up about his calmness on the field and inspirations.

Talking about his inspiration, Bumrah said that he didn’t follow anybody in particular but always picked up inspiring moments from everything around him.

“A lot of the game is self-taught. I’ve always picked up inspiration from whatever I saw or wherever I’ve been. So, not a particular person but a lot of great bowlers (who) I always used to watch on the television – And nowadays when I meet them, I ask them a lot of advices,” he said.

The fire inside is burning all the time – Jasprit Bumrah

The pacer from Gujarat is calmness personified on the field. If something doesn’t go his way, his reaction is usually to smile and shrug it off. However, he wasn’t always like this. When talking about his aggression, Bumrah mentioned his way of controlling it.

“I try to channelize my anger. Basically when I started playing cricket as a youngster, I used to get angry left, right, and center. I used to do all those gimmicks which didn’t really help my game. Over the years, I played a lot of international cricket, realized what works for me so I am smiling – But the fire inside is burning all the time,” Bumrah said.
