Suresh Raina was part of the commentary team in the opening game of the fifth season of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL). Also the Chennai Super Kings batsman Raina said that he embraces the culture in Chennai as he is also a” Brahmin”. Suresh Raina has been called out on social media after his comment during the commentary.

The opening match of the TNPL was held between Lyca Kovai Kings and Salem Spartans on Monday. During the match, a commentator asked Suresh Raina, how he has embraced the south Indian culture. Notably, Raina is part of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Also, a former Indian cricketer was seen wearing a veshti, dancing and whistling.

While replying to the question Raina stated, “I think, I am also Brahmin. I have been playing since 2004 in Chennai, I love the culture… I love my teammates. I have played with Anirudha Srikanth, Badri (Subramaniam Badrinath), Bala Bhai (L Balaji)…

I think you need to learn something good from there. We have a good administration, we have the license to explore ourselves. I love the culture there, and I’m lucky to be part of CSK. Hopefully, we will play more matches there.”

The comment garnered a lot of reactions and Suresh Raina received severe bashing from the fans.

Suresh Raina will be next seen in action during second phase of IPL 2021

Meanwhile, Suresh Raina announced his international retirement with his mate Ms. Dhoni in August 2020. The veteran cricketer retired after scoring 7988 for the Indian team. However, the 34-year-old has a lot of cricket left in him. Raina is an integral part of team Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.

Also, Raina will be seen representing CSK in the second half of IPL. The second half of IPL is all set to start in UAE from September 19.
