Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria believes Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni will soon enter the coaching arena and start the second innings of his career. The 40-year-old Dhoni is currently in the twilight of his career and only features in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Kaneria in a recent question-answer session on his YouTube channel was asked what he feels would MS Dhoni choose as his profession for the second innings of his career. Danish Kaneria sounded confident that Dhoni will opt for coaching after hanging his boots in the IPL.

“I think MS Dhoni would prefer coaching over commentary. I definitely think Dhoni will soon enter the world of coaching and will start a new career in that field,” Danish Kaneria replied.

MS Dhoni to stay in CSK for one or two years: CSK CEO

MS Dhoni retired from international cricket last year on August 15. His last match was against New Zealand in the semifinals of the ICC World Cup 2019 in England. He was recently in action during the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League 2021, which was suspended midway due to the COVID crisis.

He will be next seen in action when the second half of the tournament resumes in September. Meanwhile, speculations claim that he might well hang his boots in the IPL as well. While his stocks have gone down as a batsman, MS Dhoni still continues to impress with his presence on the field.

As speculations continue to rife, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that Dhoni can continue for a couple of more years.

“He can continue for another one or two years with CSK. He is fully fit, trains a lot. Don`t see any reason why he should stop,” Viswanathan said.

“As far we are concerned, we are happy for what he is doing for CSK. It is not just about his captaincy or the fact that he is a guide or a leader as the most experienced player. We feel he is still good and brings value as a player to the side. He has been a finisher and is doing that for us,” added Viswanathan.
