During October- November, former New Zealand speedster Shane Bond will join team New Zealand as the fourth coach for the upcoming T20 World Cup and three T20I games against India. Bond will be accompanied by head coach Gary Stead, batting coach Luke Ronchi and bowling coach Shane Jurgensen.
Meanwhile, the head Gary Stead talked about the fourth coach and said, “The fourth coach for me is an opportunity to bring in different voices to the environment and we’ve used it in a whole host of ways in the past. Shane is someone who always adds value and we’re delighted to have him on board.”
Notably Shane Bond will be joining team Mumbai Indians as bowling coach during the second phase of IPL 2021 ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021. New Zealand Head Coach Gary Stead expects Bond to bring some tactical insights. He stated;
“Shane’s been in our environment before and understands what we’re about..“Being in the UAE (with the IPL) immediately prior to the World Cup … he’ll hopefully bring some tactical insight into what’s been happening in the competition. He’ll be an extra set of hands especially around the bowlers, working with the spin and the pace bowlers and developing their plans in a tournament that moves pretty quick – so we need to be one step ahead of other teams.”

“Shane Bond been working away with New Zealand players for a long time” – Gary Stead
Notably, Shane Bond has the experience of coaching New Zealand as he was their bowling coach from 2012-2015. Also, Bond was included in New Zealand’s T20I campaign against England in 2019.
“Shane’s been working away with New Zealand players for a long time and he’s been involved in our recent camps so it’s been good for him to reacquaint himself with our guys. He’s held in high regard and I know he’ll bring a lot of knowledge and opinions to the group.”
Meanwhile Kane Williamson-led New Zealand will be looking forward to winning their first-ever T20 World Cup. Also recently The Blackcaps successfully defeated India to win the inaugural World Test Championship tournament.
