New Zealand”s 17-year-old Amelia Kerr breaks the 21-year-old record in Women’s ODIs

In the 3rd One day international between New Zealand and Ireland taking place at Dublin today, New Zealand Amelia Kerr broke the 21-year-old record of highest individual scores in women’s ODI which was previously held by Belinda Clarke of Australia.

New Zealand captain Suzie Bates won the toss and elected to bat first in today’s match. Karr and Satterthwaite got the team off to a great start adding 113 runs for opening wicket.

Amelia Kerr and Kasperek added 295 runs for the 2nd wicket. Kerr remained not out on 232 off 145 balls with 31 boundaries and 2 sixes. Kasperek made 113. With the help of Kerr’s knock, New Zealand women created history by posting a massive total of 440 for 3 in 50 overs.

Amelia Kerr is the youngest to score a double century in international cricket either in both men and women. New Zealand continued to dominate the Ireland women’s team during current ODI series. This is the third time that New Zealand women posted a score of 400 plus in 3 matches ODI series against Ireland.

In the 2nd One day, international played on 10th June 2018, New Zealand women posted 418 runs with 108 off 61 balls from S Devine and contribution from every player created another record. New Zealand bowled out Ireland for 112 giving them a massive 306 runs win.

In today’s match For Ireland, L Maritz went for 84 runs in her 10 overs while GH Lewis was smashed for 81 runs in her 9 overs and took 1 wicket.

India’s Deepti Sharma comes third in terms of the highest scorer of 188 against Ireland on 15th May 2017, Chamari Atapattu of Sri Lanka scored 178* against Australia at Bristol during  2017 Women’s World Cup.

Charlotte Edwards of England made 173* against Ireland women on 16th June 1997. India’s Harmanpreet Kaur made a brilliant 171* against Australia in the semi-finals of Women’s World Cup 2017.
