Rishabh Pant has once again come under the scanner because of his irresponsible batting approach. He got out on a golden duck in the third and final ODI against South Africa in Cape Town. He came into bat at an important stage but couldn’t contribute to his team. His rash shot left Virat Kohli angry too.
He tried to go for big hits right from the beginning and was eventually caught at deep cover in the first delivery he had faced. And, former India captain Virat Kohli, who was there at the other end, looked unimpressed with this.
As Pant walked back after getting out, Kohli didn’t utter a word instead he kept staring at him, who gave away his wicket by playing an unnecessary shot amid the tough time as well in the final delivery of the 23rd over off Andile Phehlukwayo.

Pant’s dismissal came soon after Shikhar Dhawan’s in the same over. Dhawan (61 off 73) along with Kohli had stitched 98 runs for the second wicket as well. Kohli later was dismissed by Keshav Maharaj on 65 off 84 deliveries.
The middle-order batsmen Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer couldn’t do much as they were dismissed on 26 and 39 respectively. Deepak Chahar, however, tried his best, smashing a 34-ball 54 but his efforts went in vain as India were all-out for 283 in 49.2 overs.
Played well in patches but haven’t built pressure over a long period- KL Rahul
After the defeat, skipper KL Rahul said: “Deepak gave us a real chance of winning the game. Quite an exciting game, just disappointed we ended up on the losing side. We gave ourselves a real chance, something we can learn from and get better. Quite obvious where we’ve gone wrong. No shying away from it. At times our shot selection has been poor. Even with the ball we haven’t been hitting the right areas consistently. Have played well in patches but haven’t built pressure over a long period.”
