The bell for IPL 2020 has already rung with franchises announcing the list of retained players before heading out for the auctions. As we look forward, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has picked one player who can be the most expensive buys ever in history.
Meanwhile, with limited time BCCI has decided to conduct a mini-auction which is expected to take place in mid-February. And Aakash Chopra believes Australian speedster Mitchell Starc can set the auction floor on fire as he is set to play for the first time since 2015.
Mitchell Starc can be the most expensive buys in auction – Aakash Chopra
The left-arm fast bowler made his debut in 2014 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. In 2018, he was picked to play for Dinesh Karthik’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). However, he missed out due to an injury. Mitchell Starc opted out of the 2020 IPL in order to prepare for the T20 World Cup in Australia which had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As soon as the franchises released their retention list, Aakash Chopra feels that the 19-year-old Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, who was released by Kings XI Punjab, would fetch around seven to eight crores. Mujeeb recently played for the Brisbane Heat in the 2020-21 BBL.
The cricketer-turned-commentator feels Jason Roy, who was left out by Delhi Capitals can fetch Rs 4-6 crores. The England opener has been in decent form in the ongoing BBL and is one of the leading run-scorers for Perth Scorchers. Chopra also predicted all-rounder Chris Green, who played for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2020, to fetch a good deal.
Aakash Chopra also believes Glenn Maxwell and Nathan Coulter Nile can also fetch big money during IPL 2021 auctions along with New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson, who has been making the headlines with his performances in recent times.
“Mujeeb to go for 7-8 crore. Green for 5-6 Crore Starc to become the most expensive IPL buy ever. Jamieson to receive solid interest. 5-7 crore Jason Roy 4-6 crore Maxwell and NCN will still get decent contracts. Subject to their availability of course,” Aakash Chopra tweeted.
