Kolkata Knight Riders have blown hot and cold so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Although they have three wins from five matches, Andre Russell’s form with the bat will keep them on their feet. However, Shubman Gill said that they are not worried about his form and that he is saving the best for the last.
So far, Russell has only managed to register 50 runs from five innings at a strike rate of 135.13. Seen as a match-winner over the last few seasons, Andre Russell has failed to live up to the expectations. The management has pushed him in the batting-order but nothing has worked so far.
Andre Russell is saving best for the last – Shubman Gill
While many pundits have stressed that it can be a worrying sign for Kolkata Knight Riders, but Shubman Gill doesn’t agree. The young opener has instead said that Andre Russell is saving his best for the last. Kolkata are currently in the fourth spot in the table with six points.
“He didn’t do well as per his expectations. I think it is good for us in the way that the main part of the tournament is yet to come and as they say, save the best for the last,” Gill pointed out.

Despite his poor returns with the bat, Andre Russell has stepped up to the task with the ball. He has delivered the goods in the death overs and was exceptionally well against the Chennai Super Kings. The Caribbean all-rounder has bent his back to hit the pitch and has also delivered good bouncers.
Speaking more, Shubman Gill stated that his team has performed well so far in IPL 2020 apart from the first game. There were speculations about Dinesh Karthik‘s leadership but after Kolkata’s convincing win, everything has been put to rest.
“I think we are playing great cricket. Apart from the first game, we lost where we looked a bit rusty as we were all playing our first match after such a long time. Except for that game, we have been playing some really good cricket. The matches that we have won, we have done it comprehensively and were quite comfortable wins for us,” Gill signed off.
