The ICC announced nominations for the best batter, and best bowler in each of the formats including ODIs, T20Is, and Test matches. Apart from these awards, ICC also announced nominations for emerging player of the year. The nominations for the emerging player for 2022 include Ibrahim Zadran from Afghanistan, Finn Allen from New Zealand, Marco Jansen from South Africa, and Arshdeep Singh from India.

Arshdeep Singh looked impressive making his international debut for India on the tour of England in July 2022. He was the pick of the bowlers for Men in Blue during the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2022. During that tournament, Singh grabbed a total of 10 wickets that helped Team India reach the semi-finals stage.

Singh also made his ODI debut during the series against New Zealand. The other nomination Finn Allen did a superb job for New Zealand providing decent performances while opening the batting in T20Is and ODI formats.

Arshdeep Singh has shown tremendous ability to swing the ball and created his impact. He also did a superb job for Team India in the death overs not allowing opposing batters to score runs easily and keeping pressure.

The left-arm pace bowler looked impressive in the Indian Premier League for Punjab Kings and got a chance in the national team. He grabbed a total of 33 wickets in 21 matches at an average of 18.12 getting wickets with the new ball and dismissing batters in death overs.

Arshdeep Singh’s performance in 2022

His performance in T20Is for India during 2022 has been remarkable. He picked a total of 31 wickets from 20 innings with best figures of 4 for 37 against New Zealand in the 3rd T20I at Napier. Arshdeep Singh produced a memorable performance during the opening encounter against Pakistan. He took the wickets of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to break the backbone of the opponent. Despite going for runs, he ended with figures of 3 for 32.

The other nomination Ibrahim Zadran also performed brilliantly with 798 runs in ODIs and T20I format with 3 centuries at an average of 49.87. Finn Allen also had a decent outing with 411 T20I runs at a strike rate of 155. He also scored 387 runs helping New Zealand win matches.

Marco Jansen grabbed a total of 37 wickets with a bowling average of 19.02 and batting average of 22.09.
