England all-rounder Moeen Ali is eager to thank the fan who helped him heal his finger injury during the ongoing 2023 Ashes series. He suffered the injury during the first Test of the Ashes series at Edgbaston. The injury affected his bowling in the initial part of the five-match Test series.
Moeen Ali made a comeback to Test cricket for the 2023 Ashes series withdrawing his retirement from the format. He played the first Test, however, a cut on his spinning finger, impacted his performance. The cut resulted in a blister on his hand, affecting his bowling in the series. He missed the second Test but was brought in for the Headingley match.
A few days back, an NHS worker sent Moeen Ali a gel made of honey that healed the wound. The All-rounder wants to thank the fan for her gesture, helping him heal the injury. He wants to write back to her but has misplaced the original letter. Speaking to BBC Sport, he revealed about the fan. He said,
“I can’t remember who it is. If the lady sees this, please get in contact because I really want to write back to say thank you.”
“I got home after the Edgbaston Test and a few days later I got a letter from a lady who said her husband is a big fan of mine,” Moeen Ali explained.

England all-rounder Moeen Ali further expressed that the gel given by the fan helped him to head the finger quickly. He added that he is gutted to have misplaced the original letter sent by the fan. The bowler also expressed that he wants to thank the fan for her gesture, which proved to be effective to heal the injury. He said,
“They were watching and saw the gash on my finger and thought the Medihoney would really help me. I tried it and it really healed my finger straight away.”
“It’s amazing that someone had written to me about this. The only thing I’m really gutted about – I put the letter on the table in my house thinking after the series I will reply, now I can’t find the letter,” he added.
