Australia, South Africa To Tour India Ahead Of ICC T20 World Cup 2022

India will play three T20Is against Australia, and a series of three T20Is and three ODIs against South Africa, all at home, between September 20 and October 11. These will be India’s final fixtures before they leave for Australia for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, scheduled to commence on October 16.

The three T20Is against Australia will be played in Mohali, Nagpur and Hyderabad on September 20, 23 and 25 respectively. The South Africa T20Is will be played between September 28 and October 4 in Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati and Indore, while the ODIs, which follow, will be played in Lucknow, Ranchi and Delhi, between October 6 and 11.

The three ODIs will be part of the World Cup Super League, and are crucial to South Africa’s chances of reaching the 2023 tournament, which India automatically qualify for as hosts. The Proteas are in 11th place on the Super League table and have 11 matches left to play.

However, they have cancelled three ODIs against Australia to keep their players available for the new T20 league. That means they will only play eight more matches in the Super League – three against India, three against England in February 2023, and two against Netherlands. They will have to win all their games to directly qualify for the playoffs, otherwise, will have to play World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe next year.
