BCCI Announce IPL 2020 Playoff Schedule

As the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League comes to its business ends, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the playoff schedule. The grand finale of IPL 2020 will take place on November 10- first time on a weekday in the history of IPL.

The Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi will host the eliminator and second qualifier on November 6 and 8 respectively. On the other hand, Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai will host the qualifier on November 5 and the grand finale on November 10.

Meanwhile, BCCI has invited one individual from each state bodies for the tournament final. The representatives of state associations – who travel to the UAE for the final – will not have to undergo any quarantine. Instead, they will take three COVID-19 tests – two in India and one after reaching Dubai. Only if the results are negative, they will be allowed to watch the final on November 10.

Meanwhile, defending champions Mumbai Indians became the first team to book a berth in the playoffs. The tournament went to the wire to find out the rest three teams for the IPL 2020 playoff race. In the penultimate game of the group league, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals sealed their berth.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad progressed through on the final match of the league stage. Finishing at No.1 and 2, Mumbai and Delhi will play the Qualifier while Bangalore and Hyderabad will lock horn in the Eliminator.

Qualifier 1 – Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals – November 5 (Dubai)

Eliminator – Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Sunrisers Hyderabad – November 6 (Abu Dhabi)

Qualifier 2 – TBA – November 8 (Abu Dhabi)

Final – TBA – November 10 (Dubai)
