While the Indian camp looks to repeat the heroics of last two away tours to England and Australia , India have to deal with massive loss of Rohit Sharma while South Africa has to cope with some humungous loss in the form of their Talismanic wicket keeper Quinton de Kock and Anrich Nortje who are out of the series due to injury.
“It will be a challenging tour for India” – Wasim Jaffer
Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer reckons Virat Kohli-led India will have a challenging tour against the Proteas, who are generally very strong on home soil despite going through a transition.
Speaking to News18, Jaffer said:
“South Africa has a decent fast bowling attack, there is no doubt it (on Tuesday, CSA said that fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the series because of a recurring hit related injury). Rabada is one of the best. He is going to challenge the Indian batters. They have sufficient quality. Their pace bowling will definitely challenge India. But their batting is not the same it was before. Nonetheless, it will be a challenging tour for India.”
India face the Proteas on Boxing Day at Supersport Park, Centurion.
