India are gearing up for the next huge step in the Test arena as they try to win a Test Series in South Africa for the first time in their history as the first Test is just a couple of days away starting on 26th December at Supersport Park in Centurion.

As the Test series is closing in, the Indian team has been practicing hard and BCCI took the opportunity to showcase the mood in Indian cricket team right now.

Hanuma Vihari, Cheteshwar Pujara, Jayant Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah were all smiles while Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Siraj had a serious look on their faces.

Virat Kohli was keen to chat with KL Rahul the newly-appointed vice-captain of Team India.

BCCI posted with a caption, “All Smiles Here at Centurion.”

While the Indian camp looks to repeat the heroics of last two away tours to England and Australia , India have to deal with massive loss of Rohit Sharma while South Africa has to cope with some humungous loss in the form of their Talismanic wicket keeper Quinton de Kock and Anrich Nortje who are out of the series due to injury.

“It will be a challenging tour for India” – Wasim Jaffer

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer reckons Virat Kohli-led India will have a challenging tour against the Proteas, who are generally very strong on home soil despite going through a transition.

Speaking to News18, Jaffer said:

“South Africa has a decent fast bowling attack, there is no doubt it (on Tuesday, CSA said that fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the series because of a recurring hit related injury). Rabada is one of the best. He is going to challenge the Indian batters. They have sufficient quality. Their pace bowling will definitely challenge India. But their batting is not the same it was before. Nonetheless, it will be a challenging tour for India.”

India face the Proteas on Boxing Day at Supersport Park, Centurion.
