BCCI Gives An Update On Rohit Sharma And Shreyas Iyer Injury

Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer have suffered an injury during the first ODI against England at Pune. Very early in the match, Rohit was hit on his elbow courtesy of a fast-rising delivery from Mark Wood. The team India opening batsman was straightaway in pain but decided to continue batting before he was eventually dismissed on 28. Then during the England run chase, Shreyas Iyer in the ring on the off-side put a full stretched dive to save a boundary that badly hurt his shoulder.

Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer will take no further part in the first ODI

Iyer was successful in saving the boundary but straightaway was seen holding his shoulder. He was immediately taken off the field by the physio and the potential injury looked extremely serious. Now the BCCI has given an official update on the injuries of Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. The official Twitter handle of BCCI asserted that Iyer has been taken to scans and will take no further part in the match.

As far as Rohit Sharma is concerned he is too being monitored by the physios and will not field during the remainder of the first ODI match.

“UPDATE – Shreyas Iyer subluxated his left shoulder in the 8th over while fielding. He has been taken for further scans and won’t take any further part in the game. Rohit Sharma was hit on the right elbow while batting and felt some pain later. He won’t take the field”, BCCI wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, as far as the first ODI is concerned it is heading towards an exciting finish. England after a brilliant start have lost their way in the middle overs and are currently 5 down for 177 while chasing a target of 318 runs. On debut Prasidh Krishna has been impressive has he has picked two wickets so far while Shardul Thakur continues to be amongst the wickets and currently has 3 in the match so far.
