The BCCI is yet to pay the cash prize of the Women’s T20 World Cup to its women cricketers. India were the finalists of the tournament losing out to Australia in Melbourne in front of a packed MSG crowd of 80000 people. Meanwhile reports in the UK”s edition of The Telegraph said that BCCI are yet to pay their women cricketers a sum of $500,000 (£350,000) a collective amount won by them together.
The CEO of the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations, Tom Moffat said that they were made aware of the issue in August 2020 and reached out to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Indian players about the same.

BCCI Yet To Play Women Cricketers Their T20 World Cup Prize Money
“Prize money is payable to players for their on-field performance in pinnacle events and the late non-payment of money owing to players is unacceptable. We encourage players in India to consider getting organized as part of a players’ association so they, and the game in India, can benefit from collective player representation in the same way that their fellow professionals around the world do,” Moffat told Telegraph Sport.
Meanwhile, individually every 15 player is to receive about $33,000 each. However, the BCCI has yet not shown any immediacy on the matter. The ICC has also announced a hike in the amount of money for the winners and the runners-up. The announcement declared that the winners would be getting $1 million, while the runners-up will take home $500,000. It is worth noting that this amount was five times that of what was offered in the 2018 edition.
The Indian women’s team are currently in Mumbai undergoing their mandatory quarantine period before flying to the UK for an upcoming series. The women’s team will start their tour with one-off Test in Bristol from June 16. Later, they will face England in 3 ODIs and as many T20Is. The women’s team will be playing a Test match after seven years.
