Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has slammed Team India following their 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final loss on Thursday, November 10 at the Adelaide Oval. He expressed that India’s performance was very disappointing and their plans were exposed in the semi-final. Team India lost the match by 10 wickets, as they failed to defend 169 runs.
The Indian bowlers were at the receiving end of England openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales’ batting wrath. They couldn’t manage to pick up a single wicket in the innings. Both Buttler and Hales remained unbeaten to power England to the final of the T20 World Cup. Earlier in the match, the Indian batting failed to come to the fore. Except for Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli, the rest of the top batters failed to deliver.
Talking about India’s performance in the semi-final, former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar expressed on his Youtube channel,
“Indian fast bowling ke paas express fast bowlers nahi hai. Cut-throat spinners nahi hain. Confusing selection ke saath India andar gaya, aur badi maar khaayi. Conditions ke fast bowlers hain India ke, jahan conditions mil gayi toh khelte rahenge. Lekin very disappointing performance from India. India doesn’t deserve to meet us in MCG or be allowed to take a flight to come to Melbourne because unki cricket aaj expose hui hai. (India doesn’t have express fast bowlers or impactful spinners. They went in with a confusing selection and paid for it. Their pacers can perform if conditions suit them. It was a disappointing performance from India. They don’t deserve to meet Pakistan at MCG for even being allowed to take a flight to Melbourne because their cricket was exposed).”

Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar further expressed that Indian cricketer is at the lowest at this moment. He added that the team management should be blamed, including the skipper Rohit Sharma as they looked confused regarding their bowling plans. Akhtar said,
“Semifinal tak pohochna kaunsi badi baat hai? 4 achhi teams hain total, unme se bhi Netherlands ko haraana ya Zimbabwe ko haraake pohoch jaana… koi badi baat nahi hai. Indian cricket is at its lowest right now because when it comes to ICC events, India ko apni kaptaani dekhni hogi, management ko blame lena hoga, bowling department me confusing selection ke saath Shami ko uthaake le aaye. Achhe fast bowler hain lekin banta nahi tha. (What’s so big in reaching semis? There were 4 good teams in total. You beat Netherlands and Zimbabwe, nothing big. India needs to look at their leadership, management needs to take accountability. It was a confusing selection).”
