The current crop of Team India pacers have been one of the significant reasons behind their success in the red-ball format. The rise of Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, and Ishant Sharma has almost closed doors for Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Recently, the fast bowler weighed in on his chances for making a comeback.
The pacer last played in the Indian whites against South Africa in 2018. Subsequently, he struggled with a sports hernia injury and had to miss the most part of 2019. The current attack was at their best in the previous tour of Australia where they scalped 48 wickets collectively in the four-match series and thus played a key role in India’s triumph.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar last played a Test match in 2018
As he looks to reclaims his spot back in Test cricket, Bhuvneshwar Kumar believes it will not be easy for him. However, the 30-year-old vouched that he will leave no stones unturned to make a return in traditional form of the game.
“I definitely want to play Test cricket, but I know it won’t be easy to make a comeback, as everyone is doing very well,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar said while talking to Times of India.
“But I’ll try my best and will do everything I can to make a comeback in the Test format, as I think it is the toughest format and it gives a lot of satisfaction to perform well in that format,” he added.
Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has finally regained full fitness and is raring to get back into action. So far, the fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh has played 21 Test matches for the Indian team in which he has scalped 63 wickets at an average of 26.1.
