The 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is round the corner and the pundits have already started to reveal their choices for winner and playoffs. Meanwhile, former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Brad Hogg went one step ahead and picked the best IPL XI of 2020, much before the start of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Hogg had few eyes balls rolling with his choices on his YouTube channel. He left some of the most notable names in the shortest format – AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni, and Chris Gayle. Explaining his selection, the former Australia cricketer said that they are a little old for this format.

However, Brad Hogg will be more than happy if they prove him wrong. He also said that he might have to change his best IPL 2020 XI at the end of the competition.

“I haven’t got MS Dhoni or AB de Villiers or Chris Gayle in there. They are a little bit long in the tooth. Little bit old. But they can turn things around and be in my final XI at the end of the tournament,” Hogg said in his YouTube vlog.

Another surprising choice made by Brad Hogg was picking Kane Williamson as the skipper. Incidentally, Williamson will not lead Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020 and is also not a regular in the playing XI. The former spinner went with David Warner and Rohit Sharma as the two openers.

Virat Kohli, Williamson, Risbah Pant will form the middle-order followed by the all-rounder. Andre Russell, Ravindra Jadeja and Sunil Narine will be the three all-rounders in the side while Yuzvendra Chahal, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Jasprit Bumrah will lead the pace battery.

Apart from his best XI, Brad Hogg also mentioned three young Indian players who have great potential to do well in this year’s IPL.

“The other players that I would like to lift and kick some of these older players out are youngsters like Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw and Kuldeep Yadav. I think they have got a lot to offer in this year’s IPL,” Hogg said in the video.
