After a good two weeks of training in Chennai, the team is all set to travel to Mumbai on March 26 where they play five of their league matches in IPL 2021.

Since then, there were speculations that Chennai Super Kings might terminate his contract but the management decided to retain him ahead of IPL 2021 auction. Raina will be undergoing a seven-day quarantine in Mumbai upon joining the team.
