Former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar feels Cheteshwar Pujara does get the recognition that he deserves for his achievements. Pujara has been one of the batting pillars for Team India in red-ball cricket. He will be a key player for the hosts, heading into the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023.
Cheteshwar Pujara has a great record against Australia in test matches. In 21 matches, he has scored 1893 runs at an average of 54.08, including five centuries. The right-handed batter provides stability to the Indian batting attack. Overall, he has scored over 7000 Test runs at an average of 44.39. Cheteshwar Pujara will be playing his 100th Test match at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi.
Speaking about the prolific run-scorer ahead of his 100th Test, legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar expressed in an interaction with PTI,
“I feel Pujara’s achievements aren’t recognized enough and his importance in the team isn’t recognized enough, generally.”
“He has played magnificently for the country and his contribution has been immense in whatever success the Indian cricket team has had,” he added.

Former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was also all praise for Suryakumar Yadav, who received a maiden call-up to the Test team. The legendary cricketer expressed that the 30-year-old has impressed everyone in his short international career so far. Suryakumar Yadav got his Test cap from Ravi Shastri at the Vidarbha Cricket Association in Nagpur. Before the first Test, Sachin Tendulkar said,
“From entering into T20s and ODIs and now in the Test squad, he has made an incredible impression around the globe. Whoever follows Surya, fall in love with his ability and the way he thinks.”
“But Test cricket is going to be different. Surya looks perfectly equipped to play Test cricket. Someone of his caliber should be considered along with KL Rahul and Shubman Gill. All three are capable players and I don’t want to pass any judgment here but all three are capable enough to walk into the team,” he added.
