Colin de Grandhomme Pinpoints ‘Big Problem’ For Team India Ahead Of WTC Final

New Zealand all-rounder Colin De Grandhomme is looking forward to the India vs New Zealand WTC final which is all set to be played between June 18-22 in Southampton. The Black Caps defeated Virat Kohli’s men in the 2019 ICC World Cup semifinal, so in many ways, this is a chance for India to take an ideal revenge. The WTC is the cup that is left to be won at the end of this battle.

Meanwhile, Colin De Grandhomme in a conversation with the ICC spoke about a big problem that India might face leading up to the WTC final. In February, New Zealand became the first team to qualify for the WTC final after the Test series between South Africa and Australia was postponed. India qualified for the same when they beat England by an innings and 25 runs in the fourth Test in March inside three days.

Picking Ideal XI Will Be India’s Problem: Colin De Grandhomme

With the amount of players they’ve got they can cover all bases because they’ve got real good seam bowlers these days and gun spinner, so I think the toughest thing for them is going to be picking the XI,” the ICC tweeted quoting the all-rounder.

What India does have to their advantage is a full-strength squad and key players all available for the final game. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is fit again and if his IPL form is something to consider, he can be a matchwinner for India in the big final.

New Zealand beat India 2-0 in a Test series to start off their WTC campaign. That tour also kicked off India’s campaign as well. The NZ series loss was the only defeat that India faced in the entire campaign. India lost the Test series 2-0. They beat NZ 5-0 in the T20Is and lost the subsequent ODI series 3-0.

For a lot of players – especially the likes of R Ashwin, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ishant Sharma – who only play Test cricket for India, the WTC final is like a World Cup final.
