The record of teams batting first winning at the Dubai International cricket stadium still stands as Sunrisers Hyderabad triumph the Chennai Super Kings in a nail-biting encounter. CSK fell short of SRH’s target of 165 by just 7 runs despite the late attack by Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni.

Undoubtedly its the firepower of two youngsters that we should all be talking about as the duo of Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma took down the Chennai Super Kings bowlers in a 77 run partnership which was enough to leave the CSK batsmen struggling for runs in the 2nd innings.

The game was a highly anticipated one as everyone wanted the Chennai Super Kings side to bounce, if not for anyone but for their skipper MS Dhoni. CSK went in with three changes in the side bringing Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo and Shardul Thakur in for Ruturaj Gaikwad, Josh Hazlewood and Murali Vijay. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad went in with an unchanged playing XI from their last game.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first, clearly because only the teams batting first have won this venue in Dubai. The match started off with sheer disappointment for Sunrisers Hyderabad as Deepak Chahar cleaned up Jonny Bairstow in the very first over of the match.

After which Manish Pandey and David Warner had a brisk partnership before Pandey lost his wicket right after the powerplay. After SRH were struggling at 69/4, in walked two youngsters Abhishek Sharma and Priyam Garg who lifted the SRH score from 69 for four to 164 for five at the end of 20 overs.

When Chennai Super Kings openers walked out to bat, we saw a change in the opening combination as it was Faf Du Plessis and Shane Watson who walked in to open the innings for the Chennai side. Though they had a shaky start, the life in the game was brought back by MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja as entered in a 72 run partnership until Jadeja lost his wicket in the end stages of the game. MS Dhoni’s blitz of 47 runs wasn’t enough again as CSK went on to lose the match by 7 runs.

“Felt really good today and this (IPL) is a good stage and to be sharing it with senior players was special. I was just trying to play my natural game and credit to the team management for backing me and giving me confidence. I wanted to play my natural shots and back my strengths as I’m aware of the range of my shots.
