Dale Steyn stunned everyone after he made a controversial statement regarding the IPL. Steyn who is currently playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) had claimed that the league is more rewarding than the IPL. The fast bowler added that the focus is entirely on cricket when he features in the PSL as compared to IPL where all the talk is about the money.
Steyn faced a lot of criticism after his bizarre statement as he played in the IPL for 12 years. A day later Steyn has now apologized and asserted that his words were never intended to be degrading, insulting, or comparing any leagues. The cricketer posted a Tweet on his official account and simplified his observations.
IPL has been nothing short of amazing in my career- Dale Steyn
“IPL has been nothing short of amazing in my career, as well as other players too. My words were never intended to be degrading, insulting, or comparing of any leagues. Social media and words out of context can often do that. My apologies if this has upset anyone. Much love”, Tweeted Dale Steyn.

Meanwhile, Steyn had mentioned that because of big squads and names in the IPL the emphasis is on the amount of money they make rather than cricket. He then stated that in comparatively smaller leagues such as PSL and Sri Lanka Premier league it is all about cricket.
“When you go to IPL, there’s such big squads and there are so many big names and there’s so much emphasis on the amount of money that the players earn that sometimes, somewhere along the line the cricket gets forgotten”, he had said.
The legendary fast bowler opted out of the IPL 2021 auction owing to personal reasons. He represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2020 but was unable to make any sort of impact throughout the season. Steyn at present is playing for the Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing PSL.
