Watch – IPL Or PSL? Dale Steyn Picks The Better League Among the Two
Dale Steyn

Dale Steyn has made a sensational claim regarding the Indian Premier League (IPL). The former bowler who has played 95 IPL matches now thinks that Pakistan Super League (PSL) is more rewarding for players as compared to the IPL. Earlier this year Steyn decided not to play the upcoming IPL 2021 season but is featuring in the ongoing PSL and is representing the Quetta Gladiators.

Now, Steyn has shocked everyone and maintained that the importance of cricket is more in comparatively smaller leagues such as PSL and Sri Lankan Premier League. The fast bowler also revealed the reason why he decided not to play IPL 2021. Steyn stated that he wanted to take some time off and wanted to feature in T20 leagues where he gets more opportunities as a player and the emphasis is solely on the cricket and not about the money involved.

Playing In PSL Is More Rewarding For Players Than IPL- Dale Steyn

“I wanted some time off. I found that playing in these other leagues was slightly more rewarding as a player. I think when you go to IPL, there are such big squads and so many big names and so much emphasis on maybe the amount of money players earn and everything like that, so sometimes, somewhere down the line, cricket gets forgotten”, Dale Steyn told Cricket Pakistan.

“When you come to like a PSL or the Sri Lankan Premier League, for that matter, there is an importance on the cricket. I have only been here for a couple of days and I have had people in and out of my room, just wanting to know about where I have played and how I went about it. Whereas, when I go to something like the IPL that gets forgotten and the main topic is how much money did you go for in this IPL?”, Steyn said.

Meanwhile, Dale Steyn featured in IPL 2020 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) but failed to make an impact and could only play just a few matches in the entire season. In the last few years, Steyn looked a pale shadow of himself as he went for runs in almost every IPL match. Overall he still has a decent IPL record as he picked up 97 wickets and maintained an impressive economy rate of 6.91.
