Kolkata Traffic Police Official Dayananda Garani would never have thought in his wildest dreams to be chosen as India’s throwdown expert for the Australia tour. India will tour the country later this month for a full series and Garani will be throwing down the likes of Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and the likes.

He is a resident of Jamatiya’s village in East Midnapore’s district of the Kolaghat area. He was with the Kings XI Punjab as a throwdown specialist in the IPL 2020. After the team was knocked out of the season, Garani received a call from the BCCI for the Team India job. In his own words, he was stunned.

“I was stunned, it took some time to realise it and when I conveyed this to my father on phone, he was ‘speechless’ and blessed me. All my life, I’ve dreamt of serving the country and this is the opportunity. I never thought this would come so soon. They must have seen something in me during the IPL — it’s really been the turning point,” Dayananda Garani told PTI.

He further said that he will sacrifice everything he has to fulfil his dream of throwing down balls to Virat Kohli and co.

“I’m ready to sacrifice everything for this new challenge,” Garani, who will throw down to the likes of Kohli and Co, said.

Meanwhile, the Indian players will leave for Australia from the UAE after the end of the IPL 2020 final. Indian skipper Virat Kohli will miss the last two Test matches due to the birth of his first child.

Dayananda Garani concluded by saying that him getting selected for this job is really proud moment for his family as no one has come ever closer to something as big as this.

“It’s really a proud moment for my family and people in our village. Nobody has come close to this. But I will always stay grounded and will not shy away from joining my father at the farmland when I’m home” he concluded saying.
