Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has stated that he is unaware of the exact status of former Indian captain Virat Kohli’s injury. Incidentally, Kohli missed the first ODI against England on Tuesday due to a groin injury he reportedly sustained during the third T20I. Shreyas Iyer replaced the star batter in the playing XI for the series opener.

Sharing an official update, the BCCI had tweeted that Kohli was not considered for selection due to a mild groin strain. The statement added that the BCCI medical team was monitoring him.

When asked about the same to Jasprit Bumrah in the post-match press conference, the ace fast bowler played down the question, saying that he has no idea about the same. Bumrah stressed that he didn’t feature in the third T20I where Virat Kohli reportedly suffered the injury, so he has no clue.

“I don’t know the status of his injury because I did not play the last game (3rd T20I). Hopefully, he recovers, but I really don’t know the status of his injury,” Bumrah said.

Virat Kohli will be desperate to make a comeback in the second ODI and hit the straps with the bat. He had a forgettable T20I series, managing scores of only 1 and 11 in the two games he played. The talismanic scorer is going through an extended lean patch with the bat and will be desperate to return to form.

“It’s about understanding priorities” – Bumrah on challenges of being an all-format player

Bumrah, who returned with career-best figures of 6/19, also threw light on the challenges of being an all-format player. He stated that it’s not about picking and choosing games but understanding the priorities.

“It’s not about picking and choosing games. It’s about understanding the priorities. So if there’s a World Cup coming up or a WTC final, you have to look at the calendar and prioritize accordingly. We discuss all these things with the team management and decide accordingly,” Jasprit Bumrah explained.

Jasprit Bumrah will look to keep the momentum going as India aim to take an unassailable lead in the series by winning the second ODI against England. It will be played at Lord’s on Thursday.
