After a dull start for Team India in the third Test at Headingley, former cricketer Aakash Chopra has shared his predictions for the second day of the Test match. At the end of day 1 in Leeds, England lead by 42 runs with all their wickets intact.

As the visitors look to bounce back in the Test match, Aakash Chopra expects Jasprit Bumrah to be the wrecker-in-chief for India, picking up a couple of wickets. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the cricketer-turned-commentator said:

“I have hope from Jasprit Bumrah that he will take two or more wickets. You hope for inspirational performances from India’s viewpoint. Bumrah can make things happen.”

Adding further, Aakash Chopra stated that he expects Ravindra Jadeja to step up and deliver with the ball. The ace all-rounder is yet to deliver the goods with the ball in the series and will hope to pick up some wickets on day 2.

“I have expectations that Ravindra Jadeja will take two or more wickets, he can take three as well actually. Footmarks are already created. Even Pant was beaten on one delivery. So you will expect from Jaddu, lots of left-handers. A left-hander will come at No.3, already there is one on the ground and after that Moeen Ali and Sam Curran will also come. There are plenty of left-handers in this side. So you will expect that he plays a bigger role,” Aakash Chopra added.

England will take a significant lead today: Aakash Chopra

Speaking about England, Aakash Chopra predicted that there will be two more 50+ partnerships for the hosts and that they will take a significant lead in the first innings.

“There will be two more 50+ partnerships today. The pitch is really flat. The ball is coming extremely slow, there is not much movement. The new ball is still 40 overs away. They are already fairly ahead in the game and will keep running a little further ahead,” he concluded.
