England pacer Jofra Archer is going through a tough time in his international career. He was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right elbow while on a tour of South Africa in 2020, is likely to be ruled out of the IPL 2021 phase 2 and the entire five-match Test series against Team India. Archer was deemed for a comeback in the third Test against India but is likely to go through a surgery then.
This comes as very bad news for England who will miss the services of their lead paceman especially in the shortest format of the game. The surgery might take Archer a longer time to get fit and in the process, he might miss the T20 World Cup as well. Ahead of the T20 World Cup, Archer will miss the India Test series as well. The absence of Archer will impact the balance of the side with Ben Stokes also missg from the squad. England still has James Anderson, Mark Wood, Stuart Broad, Ollie Robinson, and Sam Curran, but would miss the services of their three important players.

Meanwhile, after his recent injury, he played just one game in the T20 Blast after which he again went for rehab. Meanwhile, his IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals might also miss his services for the second half of IPL 2021. The England players are now available for the remaining season with the Bangladesh tour being postponed. Along with him, there is a possibility of Stokes skipping the remaining season as well with him announcing an indefinite break from cricket.

The India vs England Test series starts with the first Test in Trent Bridge from August 4. The England team are on the backfoot in the absence of Ben Stokes and Archer from the squad. However, with James Anderson and Stuart Broad, the likes of Robinson, Wood and Curran makes the England bowling attack formidable. Jack Leach seems to be England’s specialist spinner in the series.
Archer has picked up 42 wickets in 13 Tests so far with three 5-wickets hauls. He has 30 wickets in England in just 8 matches with an average of 26.86.
