Jasprit Bumrah took two crucial wickets as India won the fourth Tets match at The Oval by 157 runs on day five. In the process, India took the lead i the series and heads to Manchester being 2-1 up in the series. Bumrah conceded just 22 runs from 27 overs and dismissed Ollie Pope and Jonny Bairstow of back to back overs to put the game in India’s favour.
In the post-match press conference after India’s win, Bumrah looked back at his performance and was very satisfied. On telling Virat Kohli that he wants to bowl Bumrah said:
” It was an important phase in the game. So I went up to him and said that this was the time we need to create pressure with the ball. So that was the intention behind asking to bowl”.
The Indian pacer during his PC next spoke about the Indian team making a comeback on the final day. the England openers added over 100 runs for the opening stand before being bowled out for 210.
“See In Test cricket nothing is easy. Even if its a good wicket, you have to bowl in the right areas. That is the message we always want to communicate whenever we are bowling. We knew our job was to create pressure and maintain that discipline with the ball.”
Regarding all the talk about the Indian team under the COVID cloud since Ravi Shastri tested positive, Bumrah said that they were able to control the controllable’s and did not concentrate on the outside noise or whatever was written by the media.
Bumrah then moved onto Shardul Thakur’s contribution in the Test match. He scored fifties in both innings and then took the big wicket of Joe Root to shift the momentum of the game India’s way.
“It’s massive. he played two crucial knocks and helped the team gain momentum. With the bowling effort as well he dismissing Joe Root shifted the momentum of the game India’s way. So yes very happy for him and hope he carries on his form in the future.”

Regarding the team’s ability to make a comeback after being 127/7 Bumrah said ” We as a team look to be in the present. Obviously things sometimes dont go your way and sometimes it does. But our focus is to get back into the game. So our focus is to fight and not to lose shape in a five-day Test match.”

” The body is feeling a bit tired. It required a lot of effort to get this win but I am happy for the win. We do a lot of had work on our body we train hare because we need to play the game for a longer period of time. I do almost everything possible from my end to keep myself match fit rest all depends in the trainers and physios cited Bumrah as he signed off.
