ENG vs IND 2021: ” What A Mad Series”-Twitter Reacts As India Lose Third Test & England Draw Level
India lost by an innings & 76 runs.

India lost eight wickets inside the first session of play on day four to lose the third Test. England won by an innings and 76 runs as India lost their last seven wickets in 54 minutes since Cheteshwar Pujara’s dismissal. England from being 0-1 down in the series has came back and levelled the series at 1-1. Ollie Robinson took his second five-wicket haul in the series as he finished with five for 65. Craig Overton took three wickets and James Anderson and Moeen Ali took one each.

India resumed o day four on 215/2 and were bowled out for 278 inside 100 overs. The last eight wickets just added 63 runs as the Indian batting order collapsed for the second time in the same Test match.

The England bowlers were right on the money from ball one on the fourth morning. They made the Indian batsman play wrong shots and Pujara’s dismissal was evidence of the same. The dismissals of Kohli and Rahane points out to the problem that both of them have been trying to counter for a long time.

While this was a shambolic performance from the Indian team, it was a spirited one from the hosts. They did not get into verbal battles at all in this Test match and were focused on winning the game right from the outset.

Cheteshwar Pujara was the first wicket to fall on day 4 and once he was dismissed the rest of the batting order just crumbled under pressure. Indian skipper Virat Kohli defended his batters despite the fallout in the second innings.

” It’s down to scoreboard pressure. We knew we were up against it when we were out for 80 and the opposition put up a big score. We put up crucial partnerships and saw the day through, but the pressure from the English bowlers was brillaint this morning and we didn’t respond well. Batting collapses can happen in this country, the pitch was good to bat on, but their discipline with the ball forced us to make a few mistakes, and it was difficult to deal with spells where we weren’t getting runs. We didn’t make good decisions as a batting side. The pitch looked good to bat on, and when England batted it hadn’t changed much, so they had a lot more intent with the bat, made better decision. They were the deserving side to win to be honest” said Kohli.

Ollie Robinson was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match figures of 7/81.
