Former cricketer Aakash Chopra has made his predictions for the first of the three ODIs between India and England, which will take place on Tuesday, July 12 at the Kennington Oval in London. The Rohit Sharma-led team will head into the ODI series on the back of a 2-1 victory in the T20I series against the same opponent. However, the England team too will be up for the challenge with the return of Ben Stokes, JoeRoot, and Jonny Bairstow in the team.
In a video on Youtube, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra expressed that he feels that the Indian openers will do well in the match. He predicted 75 runs plus an opening partnership for India. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, who will be opening the innings along with Shikhar Dhawan, hasn’t been able to make an impact so far. Aakash Chopra said,
“Dhawan and Rohit, both openers, will together score more than 75 runs. I am not saying that it will be a 75-run opening partnership but I feel if you total both their runs it will go beyond 75. Rohit is looking good but the big score has not come. Dhawan has been waiting, he has also been made captain for the Caribbean tour.”
Aakash Chopra also predicted Philip Salt and Joe Root to do well for England. He expressed that the duo together will score 75 plus runs in the match. Joe Root is making a comeback to the England ODI team after around a year. He will be hoping to carry his red-ball format form into the ODI series.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Moeen Ali will together take four or more wickets, predicts Aakash Chopra
Talking about the bowling attack of England and India, Aakash Chopra predicted that Yuzvendra Chahal and Moeen Ali will perform well for their respective teams. He reasoned that the Kennington Oval offers slight help for the spinners. Aakash said,
“Chahal and Moeen will together take four or more wickets. The Oval ground is favorable for batting but you get a slight turn here. So it is possible that Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja) might also pick up wickets. So you can expect wickets from Chahal, Moeen, and Jaddu here.”
The former India cricketer also predicted an England win the first ODI against India on Tuesday. The last time the two teams came head to head against each other, India defeated England 2-1 at home. However, England has an upper hand over the visitors in English conditions in ODIs.
