England vs West Indies 2020: 3rd Test – Match Prediction

The first two matches of the three-match Test series between England and West Indies have evened out the series at 1-1. Both teams are now set to play the series decider at Old Trafford. West Indies will be looking to bounce back after suffering a defeat in the 2nd Test whereas England will look to continue the momentum from the previous game.

After the conclusion of the 3rd encounter, we will have our first test series completed in the COVID era. Jofra Archer is likely to return to the side after being sidelined in the 2nd game for breaking the bio-secure environment protocol. Either one of Sam Curran or Chris Woakes is likely to make way for Archer or James Anderson’s return to the playing XI.

England have confirmed that Jos Buttler would retain his place as the wicket-keeper in the side despite a string of low scores. On the other than West Indies haven’t announced anything about their squad but it is expected that they would most likely go with the same squad.

Rahkeem Cornwall could be brought into the side after Roston Chase picked up 5 wickets in the first innings. Other than this, either one of John Campbell or Shai Hope getting dropped since they haven’t been among the runs.

Date and Venue: England vs West Indies, 3rd Test in Old Trafford, Manchester starting from July 24 (Friday) at 3:30 PM IST

Series Result: West Indies 1 – 1 England

Weather and Pitch Condition

The weather forecast says there won’t be much rain on day 1 of the Test but showers are expected on day 2 and 3 with 69 to 66 per cent chances of precipitation. Already the first two Tests have been rain-affected so its no surprise that the 3rd game also is going to be affected by rain. Day 4 is expected to have clear skies but again day 5 will be hit by rain.

The pitch conditions are most likely to remain the same with the conditions favouring the pace bowlers. We’ll see more nip back movements on the pitch as lateral swing movements are expected to be the same as the 2nd Test. Anyways without the use of saliva, we’re seeing less movement by pacers.

West Indies vs England – Match Prediction

England are likely to win the Test and seal the series as per many pundits. West Indies after suffering a defeat would want to bounce back but looking at the past history, West Indies haven’t been able to bounce back after suffering a loss in most occasions.

Though let’s see if West Indies can pull this match off and win the first Test series in this pandemic.
