England Will Play On Rank Turners, Says Graeme Swann On Indian Test Series
Graeme Swann says that England will play on rank turners on Indian soil

The England Cricket Team will visit India for a 5-match Test series, starting from 25th January 2024. When they visited India in 2021, England stunned the hosts with a commanding win in Chennai.

After that, the Indian team prepared turners that resulted in India winning the matches comfortably and winning the series 3-1. The exciting thing would be that the England team can play attacking cricket on tough Indian pitches. England was the last team to beat India on Indian soil in a Test series in 2012.

“When I saw Tom in Sri Lanka last winter, he’d barely played any red-ball cricket, but he’s got control and sometimes in India you don’t have to be the biggest turner of the ball. You must be an Axar Patel-type bowler, able to run up, be metronomic, put it on the spot, get a little bit of rotation on the ball, and let the pitch do the work. Let’s not beat about the bush, we’re going to play on some absolute square turners out there after what happened last time,” Graeme Swann said.

“He’s a young leggie and on his day he will get you five wickets. We have seen how good he can be already. There will be days when it might not come out quite right and he’ll be expensive, but he will always come out smelling of roses because he’s a brilliant character. He’s got a bit of swagger about him and I love that. I want him to start believing in himself more as a bowler. He believes in himself as a batsman but not as much yet as he should do with the ball,” Graeme Swann further added.

England’s toughest challenge on Indian pitches

The England team will look to crack the Indian conditions as they will face the hosts in five test matches. There would be different pitches and venues for the series. The first Test match will be played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad from 25th January. After this, the teams will move to Vizag for the second match to be played from 2nd Feb.

The third encounter would take place at Rajkot from 15th Feb. The fourth match will be played at Ranchi from 23rd Feb and the final match will be played at Dharmshala from 7th March. All these matches would be part of the 2023-25 ICC World Test championship cycle.

Jack Leach would be the most experienced spinner in the squad. Apart from that Rehan Ahmed, Shoaib Bashir, and Tom Hartley will be spinners from the series.
