ENGvIND: James Anderson swing masterclass helps England to dismiss India for 107

On a rain-truncated day, England bowlers dismissed India for a paltry 107 runs on the 2nd day of 2nd test match played at Lords, London just a few moments ago. It was disappointing batting performance by the Indian team who could not handle the swing of England bowlers.

England captain Joe Root won the toss and decided to field first. James Anderson got off to a perfect start dismissing Murali Vijay in very first over itself and then KL Rahul to leave India in big trouble at 10 for 2. Rain arrived and early lunch was called. After the lunch break, Cheteshwar Pujara was run out in a horrible mix up for 1.

After the start again at 15 for 3, Indian captain Virat Kohli and Rahane tried to steady the innings with some solid stroke play. Chris Woakes dismissed the Indian captain Virat Kohli for 23. Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik could not score many runs. Rahane looked solid before Anderson dismissed him.

Ravichandran Ashwin played with positive intent with some good stroke play. He made the batting look easy on tough batting conditions. James Anderson was the pick of bowlers for England with 5 wickets. Mohammed Shami hit 2 boundaries to take India’s score above 100. India was bowled out for 107 in just 35.2 overs.

The Indian batsmen did not apply as the conditions were helpful for the fast bowlers.  All the England bowlers created pressure on visitors with some brilliant bowling.

All the top order batsmen failed cheaply as the conditions were useful for hosts. If the conditions tomorrow would be helpful for the fast bowlers, then the Indian team has a chance to dismiss England cheaply and make a match out of it.

Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav would be key to India’s success tomorrow.

India 107 in 35.2 overs ( Ravichandran Ashwin 29, Kohli 23, James Anderson 5/20).
